Welcome to In-Office Vision Therapy
You've finished your evaluations and you're ready to start. This page walks you through how the program works, what happens at each visit, and how you can help your child get the most out of every week.
Where you are in the process
- Binocular Vision EvaluationA detailed look at how the eyes aim, focus, and work together.
- Visual Information Processing EvaluationFor school-age children: how the brain uses what the eyes see.
- ConsultationDr. Toler reviews results and recommends a plan.
- Vision TherapyWeekly one-on-one sessions with your therapist, plus home practice. You are here
- GraduationA final progress evaluation and a plan to keep the gains.
The first visit starts with an orientation
Your first session begins with a brief orientation before training starts. A parent needs to attend this orientation, unless other arrangements have been made with us.
After the orientation, the therapist begins working with your child. You'll meet with our patient care coordinator to finalize paperwork and payment arrangements.
- VT Program Agreement
- VT Program Policies
- Auto Payment Form (unless you're using an FES-UA scholarship)
You received these at your consultation. They were also emailed to you through our patient portal.
About 22 sessions over roughly six months
Most programs run about 22 therapy sessions with two progress evaluations built in. With school breaks, holidays, and the occasional sick day, children usually finish in about six and a half months. Your plan may be shorter or longer depending on what your evaluation found.
Eye teaming, focusing, and tracking skills, one at a time. Activities start simple on purpose.
Skills get faster, longer, and combined with movement, balance, and thinking tasks.
Skills are practiced until they hold up during reading, sports, and everyday life.
What happens in a therapy session
Each session is 50 minutes. The first 40 minutes are one-on-one time between your child and the therapist. The last 10 minutes are for you.
The therapist asks how the week went and reviews the home practice log.
Targeted activities with lenses, prisms, and specialized equipment. Each one is tuned to your child's level that day.
You join to watch the new home activities, learn how to run them, and ask any questions you have.
The work between visits matters
Office sessions teach the skill. Home practice makes it stick. Children who practice consistently usually progress faster and finish sooner.
- Plan for about 10–15 minutes a day, 3–5 days a week.
- Pick a regular time when your child isn't tired or hungry.
- Keep sessions short and positive. Stop before frustration sets in.
- Bring your home kit and practice log to every visit.
You're part of the team
- Join the last 10 minutes of each session to see the new home activities.
- Tell us about changes you notice at school, homework, or sports, good or bad.
- Share our reports with teachers if your child has a 504 or IEP plan.
- Ask questions anytime. If an activity isn't working at home, let us know.
In the first few weeks, some children notice their eyes working in new ways and may feel tired after sessions. That's a normal part of retraining the visual system. Mention it at your next visit.
Setting up your online account
Your therapist will send you an email invitation to our online platform, NeuroVisualTrainer. Look for an email from OcuDigital <ocubot@ocudigital.com>. If you don't see it, check your spam or promotions folder.
- Open the invitation email
It comes from OcuDigital <ocubot@ocudigital.com> and says Hope Vision Development Center has invited you to join.
- Click Accept Invitation
The button opens a page where you finish setting up your account.
- Choose a password
Enter and confirm a password, then click Accept Invitation again. Save your password somewhere safe.
The online activities work best on a computer with a keyboard, not a phone or tablet.
Keep the same weekly time
Vision therapy works best with steady, weekly practice. We'll reserve a regular weekly appointment time for your child for the length of the program.
- Office hours: Monday–Thursday 8:30 am–5:00 pm, Friday 8:30 am–12:00 pm. Closed for lunch 12:00–1:00 pm.
- If you need to cancel, please call us as early as you can so we can offer the time to another family.
- Missed weeks add time to the program, so try to schedule around school breaks in advance.
Finding Suite 107
Our office is at 235 Citrus Tower Blvd., Suite 107, Clermont, FL 34711. Suite 107 is on the back side of the building. Plan to arrive a few minutes early for your first session so your child can get comfortable.
Please stay on site for the whole appointment. We ask that parents and guardians not drop off. You're welcome to wait in our reception area or in your vehicle.
Questions families ask
When will we start to see changes?
Many families notice small changes within the first two months, such as fewer complaints during homework or less losing place while reading. The first progress evaluation measures these changes objectively.
Can my child do therapy if they wear glasses?
Yes. Bring their glasses to every session. Your therapist will tell you when to use them during activities.
What if we miss a week of home practice?
Pick it back up the next day. One missed week won't undo progress, but a pattern of missed practice will slow it down. Let us know if the routine is hard to keep, and we'll help adjust it.
Do I stay during the session?
Yes. Please stay on site for the whole appointment, either in our reception area or in your vehicle. The therapist works one-on-one with your child for the first 40 minutes, and you join for the last 10 minutes to learn the home activities and ask questions.
What happens after graduation?
At the final progress evaluation, Dr. Toler will review results and give you a short maintenance plan to keep skills strong.
