For families using Step Up For Students

How to use your FES-UA funds at Hope Vision.

We want the financial side of your child's care to be clear and predictable. Here's what our services cost, how to reserve your Step Up funds, and what to do if your balance runs low.

Step 1

Know what to plan for

Review your Step Up account and make sure you have enough funds available for your child's evaluations and ongoing vision therapy.

Evaluation fees

Binocular Vision Evaluation$295
Visual Processing EvaluationOnly if recommended by Dr. Toler$195
Doctor conferenceIncluded

The Visual Processing Evaluation is separate from the Binocular Vision Evaluation and is only completed if Dr. Toler recommends it.

Vision therapy fees

Vision therapy with a vision therapistPer session$175
Vision therapy with Dr. TolerPer session$225

Once your child begins vision therapy, the session rate depends on the provider.

Planning ahead: therapy session estimates

Therapy runs in units of 11 weekly sessions followed by a progress exam with the doctor, and most patients complete two units. Each unit estimate includes that unit's progress exam; your child's plan is based on their evaluation.

Estimates only. Your Patient Care Coordinator will confirm your child's plan.
Therapy sessionsWith a vision therapistWith Dr. Toler
1 session$175$225
1 unit (11 sessions) + Progress Exam$2,100$2,700
2 units (22 sessions) + Progress Exams$4,200$5,400
Step 2

Reserve your Step Up funds

If you're using Step Up funds, you'll need to reserve the right amount of funding for your child's services through the Step Up For Students Marketplace. This short video from Step Up For Students walks you through it.

Please watch the video and complete the fund reservation before your child's appointment(s).

Step 3

What if your funds aren't enough?

Step Up funding can change as services are used, so we encourage families to keep an eye on their available balance throughout their child's vision therapy program.

If you think your Step Up funds won't cover your child's upcoming sessions, please contact our Patient Care Coordinator before the funds run out so we can make payment arrangements and avoid an interruption in your child's scheduled care.

Questions about FES-UA funds

Can I use FES-UA funds for the evaluation?

Yes. Families using Step Up For Students can reserve funds for their child's Binocular Vision Evaluation and, if Dr. Toler recommends it, the Visual Processing Evaluation, as well as for ongoing vision therapy sessions.

How much should I reserve?

Reserve enough for your child's upcoming evaluation or sessions. For example, one unit of 11 sessions plus its progress exam is $2,100 with a vision therapist, or $2,700 with Dr. Toler. Our Patient Care Coordinator can help you estimate.

What if my balance runs low during therapy?

Step Up funding changes as services are used. If you think your funds won't cover upcoming sessions, contact our Patient Care Coordinator before they run out so we can set up payment arrangements and avoid interrupting your child's care.

Do I need to reserve funds before every appointment?

Funds should be reserved before your child's appointments. Watch the Step Up For Students video on this page for the steps, and call us if anything is unclear.

Do you take insurance?

No. Hope Vision is a fee-for-service practice. FES-UA funds through Step Up For Students can be used for approved services.

Scholarship rules and Marketplace steps are set by Step Up For Students and can change each year. New to FES-UA? See our Homeschool & FES-UA page or visit Step Up For Students.
